We are delighted to announce that, working alongside Business in the Arts:North West and Yorkshire Business in the Arts, Grants for the Arts funding has been secured to deliver a series of governance initiatives for the arts across the North of England over the next two years.
The programme started with a survey to establish some current benchmarks around governance standards and to establish information about the quality, effectiveness and diversity of governance in the arts. What we find out will then feed into the design of the services below.
Following on from this, we will be offering a range of services, some for whole boards and some open events. These will include:
·Board assessment service
An external review of the governance of your organisation. that will take into the account the views of everyone involved.. A report will be produced which will include recommendations for improvement and a suggested method for self review that the board can implement in the future.
·Board development sessions
These full day whole board sessions will be based on a foundation of research and discussion so that each session will be bespoke to the needs of the individual organisation.
·Boards and income generation workshops
Open half day workshops to look at issues around fundraising and income generation for board members and relevant staff. The workshops will be designed to help board members better to understand their role in this area.
·Strategic development workshops
Facilitated sessions for board members and the management of your organisation especially designed to support small/medium sized organisations to review their direction and strategy and manage a period of required change.
All there services will be very competitively priced with charges tiered in relation to the size of an organisation, thereby making them as accessible as possible. For instance the cost of a strategic development session could be as little as £100 plus VAT.
In addition we have undertaken to find a number of board candidates with specialist skills that are not usually recruited for the Better Board Bank programme. These needs are likely to be identified through board assessments.
We plan to start delivery in the Autumn, so look out for further information, and in the meantime if you are interested in any of these services, do drop us an email.
