Business Advisors for the Arts
We believe that people in the arts and people in business have valuable skills and experience to share and in doing so will contribute to their own professional development.
Arts & Business have developed specific programmes to help business volunteers share their professional skills with arts organisations. In the North East we manage these programmes on behalf of Arts & Business.
The Skills Bank Programme matches the skills of volunteer business people with the needs of arts organisations and museums to provide support for particular time-limited projects, for example they give help with business planning, marketing, finance, IT or personnel work. This is typically a few hours a month for up to six months.
The Board Bank Programme helps arts organistions and museums recruit board members from the business and professional community. This will build more permanent relationships and encourage high quality governance of the ats organisations and museums involved.
For both programmes volunteers register their interests and backgrounds with us, and arts organisations and museums register their requirements. We then facilitate meetings and in some cases interviews between the parties.
As part of the Board Bank programme we also provide a free Board Bank Induction Training session for new and potential Board Members on their roles and responsibilities as board members.
